Black+Decker was founded in 1910, made the first electric drill in 1917, and (most relevantly for us) shipped the first cordless string trimmer in 1961. The modern outdoor line sits below the DeWalt line under the same parent company — entry-level consumer, 20V Max / 40V Max.
B+D is the tool you buy with your first house and pass down unchanged for ten years. The LST300 string trimmer, CM1040 mower, and LCS1020 chainsaw are the high-volume SKUs. Not a lot of torque, not a lot of runtime, but parts are everywhere and nothing on any of them is proprietary enough to be unfixable.
Replacement spools and pre-wound line for the AFS (Automatic Feed System) trimmer heads, 10″ mower blades, chains and bars for the 10″ LCS1020, and a universal fitment kit for the 20V Max battery tab pattern (interchangeable with Stanley, Craftsman V20, Porter-Cable 20V Max).
