This independent manual is written for EGO 56V-style walk-behind battery mowers used on suburban lawns. Blade length, center-hole shape, and bolt hardware vary by deck, so confirm your model number before ordering.
Safety setup before the mower moves
Remove the battery and safety key. Wait until the blade is fully stopped, then roll the mower onto a flat garage floor, driveway, or paved path near the lawn.

Tip the mower only in the direction recommended for the deck. Keep the battery bay up and avoid laying weight on plastic controls.
Step 1: Photograph the old blade orientation
Before loosening the bolt, take a quick phone photo of the old blade. The sail or lift wings usually face upward toward the mower deck, while the sharpened edge faces the direction of rotation.

Block the blade with a scrap of wood, loosen the center bolt with steady pressure, and remove the old blade. Clean packed grass from the boss and underside of the deck.
Step 2: Compare old and new before bolting
Lay the blades side by side:
- Overall length must match.
- Center hole and locating holes must match.
- Lift wings must face the same way.
- The new blade must sit flat on the blade boss.
If one feature looks close but not exact, stop. A blade that bolts on but does not seat correctly can vibrate or cut unevenly.
Step 3: Torque, spin, and test on a small strip
Install the new blade in the same orientation. Tighten to the torque listed in your mower manual, then spin the blade by hand to confirm it clears the deck.

Reinstall the battery and mow a short strip. Stop, remove the battery again, and inspect the blade bolt. The lawn should show a clean cut without gray torn tips.
Troubleshooting after the first pass
| Result | What to check |
|---|---|
| Vibration | Blade not centered, bent blade, or wrong adapter fit |
| Ragged grass tips | Blade upside down or dull replacement |
| Clumping | Wrong lift profile for the deck |
| Scraping noise | Blade installed against debris or wrong orientation |
