Kobalt is Lowe’s exclusive hand-tool and outdoor-power brand. It started in 1998 as their answer to Home Depot’s Husky. The 24V Max cordless lineup launched in 2016 and has quietly become one of the most popular consumer platforms — cheaper than EGO or DeWalt, tougher than Ryobi.
You’ll mostly see Kobalt in the hands of first-time homeowners. The KST 2224B-03 trimmer, the KCS 6-06 chainsaw, and the KMP 6080A mower are the volume SKUs. The platform is unambiguously consumer-grade — the motors bog under sustained load — but the parts are cheap and the battery-to-tool ratio is generous.
Replacement trimmer spools for the KLS 124-03 trimmer head (the 0.080″ pre-wound ones specifically — the factory spool is known to bind), chainsaw chains in the 6″ and 10″ lengths, mower blades for the 20″ and 21″ decks, and generic brush wear kits for the brushed-motor versions. 24V Max battery compatibility: ours match the tabs on the B&D and Craftsman V20 as well.
