The 91PX in 56 drive links is the single most common replacement chain in North American retail. 3/8″ low-profile pitch, .050″ gauge, 56 drive links (fits most 16″ consumer bars). Low-kickback profile, semi-chisel cutter.
Replace the chain when you’ve sharpened it down past the cutter witness line, or when the drive links start riding the top of the bar groove (meaning the bar has also opened up). A chain that cost you $15 new is not worth salvaging past five sharpenings.
The 91PX pulls easier than the 91VXL but yields slightly rougher cut finish — fine for firewood, less good for slab work. Oregon’s own 91VXL is the full-chisel version; it cuts cleaner and dulls faster.
